Shillings Forms Exploratory Committee for Indiana Secretary of State Candidacy
Carmel native considering run for statewide office on the Libertarian ticket for 2028.
Carmel, IN - May 2, 2025 – Hamilton County Libertarian Party Chairwoman Lauri Shillings has launched an exploratory committee to run for Indiana Secretary of State in 2026. After seeing very little in terms of working for Hoosiers from current S.O.S. Diego Morales, she believes it is high time for a change in leadership.
A Creative Director at the University of Indianapolis and small business owner, Shillings believes the office is in desperate need of more integrity, competence, and an attitude geared toward serving Hoosiers instead of the interests of the officer holder’s political party.
Shillings will roll out her goals for Secretary of State as she assembles her team in the coming weeks.
She seeks to gain the Libertarian nomination at the party’s annual convention in 2026. In Indiana, a political party retains ballot access when their candidate for Secretary of State receives at least two percent of the total votes cast for that office in the most recent election.
The Libertarian Party of Indiana has been on ballots since 1994 and continues to ensure voters have quality, responsible candidates to choose from to better the Hoosier state.

Lauri Shillings, Candidate seeking the Libertarian nomination for Secretary of State
“Communities across Indiana want to know their tax dollars are not being wasted and their businesses are being well represented,” she says. “That includes at the ballot box. Hoosiers need to be able to trust our state to hold free and fair elections and that starts with the Secretary of State.”
