September 4, 2026, Lauri Shillings, Libertarian candidate for Indiana Secretary of State, joins Hold ’em Accountable for a conversation about one of the most overlooked offices in Indiana politics.

In the fourth and final episode, Libertarian candidate Lauri Shillings describes growing up on one of the oldest homesteads in Indiana and why she believes she can win enough votes to make her party eligible to hold primaries under state law.

Shillings says she wants to bring a “heart of community service” to the office and make sure “the everyday people of Indiana are well represented,” casting her run as a chance to serve rather than a political stepping stone.

Shillings is running on a simple pitch: no party machine, no big donors calling in favors. Her argument is that the other three are “all on board to carry water for their party or for leadership in Washington, DC”

“I’m tired of being divided by a machine that only wants to keep us divided rather than working together for a unified purpose.”

Accessibility isn't a compliance checkbox, it's whether a fellow Hoosier can exercise their fundamental right to vote with the same independence and privacy as anyone else.

“It’s not about a partisan role,” Shillings said during an interview with FOX59/CBS4 on Monday. “It’s about doing the work of the people of Indiana.”

She said her campaign is not a political stepping stone, but is about working hard for Hoosiers.

“I’m doing this because I give a damn about this job,” she said. “It’s a service for me. It’s about doing the work for the people of Indiana, and it’s about providing services that are important and integral. I’m here to do this job for the next four years.”

Government should not be the hardest part of doing business.

We can build systems that are efficient, transparent, and respectful of people’s time. We can create an experience that reflects the professionalism and work ethic Hoosiers expect.

And we can do it without turning this office into a political battleground.

Libertarian Candidate for Secretary of State in Indiana Lauri Shillings joined Rob Kendall to discuss her run for Secretary of State, including big issues currently facing the office and the behavior of Republican incumbent Diego Morales.

“The Secretary of State’s office belongs to the people of Indiana — not to political parties,” Shillings said in a news release. “Indiana doesn’t need a Secretary of State who treats the office as a political tool. We need someone who treats it as a public trust.”

The Libertarian Party of Indiana has nominated Lauri Shillings to head its ballot this year as its candidate for secretary of state.

Election Offices Must Remain Neutral

Voter registration should be run by neutral institutions, not political advocacy groups. The appearance of the Secretary of State partnering with organizations aligned with one political ideology risks undermining trust in our elections.
