Accessibility isn't a compliance checkbox, it's whether a fellow Hoosier can exercise their fundamental right to vote with the same independence and privacy as anyone else.

“It’s not about a partisan role,” Shillings said during an interview with FOX59/CBS4 on Monday. “It’s about doing the work of the people of Indiana.”

She said her campaign is not a political stepping stone, but is about working hard for Hoosiers.

“I’m doing this because I give a damn about this job,” she said. “It’s a service for me. It’s about doing the work for the people of Indiana, and it’s about providing services that are important and integral. I’m here to do this job for the next four years.”

Government should not be the hardest part of doing business.

We can build systems that are efficient, transparent, and respectful of people’s time. We can create an experience that reflects the professionalism and work ethic Hoosiers expect.

And we can do it without turning this office into a political battleground.

Today, the voices of Hoosier voters prevailed over big government interference from D.C. I am incredibly proud of the 31 Indiana State Senators who rejected Trump’s plea to gerrymander our state’s congressional districts.

The truth is simple: mail-in voting is secure, limited, and essential for free and fair elections in Indiana. Taking it away creates new barriers for the very people who deserve our support the most — seniors who built our communities, and military families sacrificing for our freedom.

I am adamantly opposed to this gerrymandering attempt a mere four years after redistricting in 2021.

Indiana ranked 50th out of 51 in voter turnout as of the last 2022 midterm election, and 40th in the nation during the presidential election of 2024. These suppression tactics are an unnecessary barrier for Hoosier voters that are already reluctant to turn up at the polls.
