WLFI: Meet Lauri Shillings
Meet the Secretary of State Candidate: Lauri Shillings
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Lauri Shillings continues to launch her political career as she runs for Indiana Secretary of State.
This is her second campaign after running for Congress in 2024.
Shillings received her degree in Nonprofit Leadership from the University of Indianapolis, where she currently works as the Creative Director for the marketing team.
“I grew up in Indiana and I’ve had to work for a living my entire life, mostly in regular jobs that everyone else would understand,” said Shillings.
Shillings announced her campaign in March of 2025, taking the Libertarian party’s nomination at this year’s convention in March.
Shillings is a 10th generation Hoosier born and raised in Montgomery County. She’s holding onto her roots as she marches towards this year’s election.
“I was approached to say ‘Hey, is this something that you would be interested in?’ And 100%, I said absolutely yes. Because election integrity is one of the things that we’re super concerned about now. I will say our systems in Indiana are working as intended, there’s very low voter fraud,” said Shillings.
Shillings is focused on upgrading to more user-friendly online services for business owners and voters, protecting the integrity and privacy of elections, and educating and empowering voters.
“As the portal of business in Indiana, we want to ensure everyone has the most seamless opportunity they can to start a business,” said Shillings.
As she looks to November, she asks voters to do their research and find which candidate’s values resonate the most with you.
“Many people are tired of having people who are 100% involved with their party instead of the people of Indiana,” said Shillings.
“I’m tired of being divided by a machine that only wants to keep us divided rather than working together for a unified purpose. And if you’re those people in Indiana, you’re the people I’m running for.”
